I love lists. It's so much fun to have to do lists and cross off everything you have accomplished!  What I am about to show you is a list, but not a to do list.  I created this list of words and have decided to add on to each of them so you can hopefully learn more about me.  I've even posted a few pictures as well in hopes that if my words get boring, my photos will at least entertain you!

My One Year Bucket List

I have always been fascinated by the idea of a bucket list.

Who doesn't want a reason to go shopping in Paris, sky diving in New Zealand, cliff jumping off of Mt. Everest ...

... Wait, what?

The point is, I did have a bucket list at one time - all of these phenomenal activities that I would do SOMEDAY before I die.  If any of you are like me, however, SOMEDAY is the farthest distance day in the future possible before I actually die.  So this bucket list that I had created, really just became a fantasy procrastination list that I would probably never actually follow through.

Since I know myself pretty well after being with myself for twenty years now, I have this theory that I am in fact ambition enough to tackle ridiculous ideas and go after what I want, but I need a more specific deadline than the day I die because I HAVE NO CLUE WHEN THAT DAY WILL ARRIVE!!!

Hence my idea of the one year bucket list - from my birthday of July 12th, 2014 (when I turned 20) to July 12, 2015 (when I turn 21 - crazy, huh?), I have created a list of things I want to do and habits I want to change. Some of things are very simple such as to wear red lipstick and attend a hockey game because those are two things I've never actually done before (how crazy is that?!)! There are things I want to learn to do such as drive a stick shift and play the guitar.  There are things too that I have done before but haven't done in awhile, like go to a concert (more on this in just a second!).

All I want is for this year to be a celebration of life!  So often, I think we forget that it's not just certain moments that are great, but rather every day is a special occasion! I don't have to be dying for my life to suddenly have adventure - I want for this year, for my life actually, to have adventure no matter what season I am in, where I am living, or who I am with!

I know I mentioned in my first post that I would keep you updated on the scratching of the bucket list events throughout the year!  My first scratch off happened this week on Friday, July 18th and Saturday, July 19th as I got to go see Sawyer Brown, The Swon Brothers, and Danielle Bradbery in concert with my family (thank you Dad for the tickets!) at the Hampton County Fair.

I also want to show off my time at this concert through a video that I put together with my pictures and video clips that I took on my phone! Check it out!

Hello, my name is ...

Hello, my name is Lexi.

This is a blog about my life, my thoughts, and whatever else I decide to post because, well, this is in fact my blog, therefore, I can do with it what I please.

I've told myself for a long time now that I would start a blog.  I'm currently a Journalism and Media Communication major in college, so I feel like that's the sort of thing "my kind of people" should do.  Except, I have never be able to convince myself to stick with consistently writing on the Internet.  A blog is a weird sort of thing - it's kind of like a diary, but it's a diary that anyone can read if they choose, which is kind of strange if you ask me, but also really neat because it can give people a voice.

But the point is this:  I have finally decided to start a blog.  For one year, from July 12, 2014 (which was actually yesterday) to July 12, 2015 I am committing myself to writing on this blog once a week - 52 posts.  And maybe, if I'm lucky, I will have gotten myself into a routine and I will stick with this blog even longer.

One more thing, whether you're wondering or not,  I am 20 years old as of yesterday. Math will tell you that I have one year now until I turn 21 (crazy, huh?).  This blog is a part of my "one year bucket list" - what am I going to commit to doing, and maybe changing, in this one year.

Life experience, not my own life mind you, has taught me that everyone will someday die.  I believe, however, that many times people create bucket lists that they never accomplish because we as humans, myself included, believe we are invincible; that there is no possible way we will only live one more year, month, or maybe even one more day.  I believe that by creating a "one-year bucket list" I have created a reachable goal for myself for things I want to conquer.

This blog is also to hold me accountable to scratching items off my list.  I'm sure throughout this year, I will be posting specific updates on my "one year bucket list."

And, since I'm already writing this, thanks for joining me on this one year adventure and reading my blog. Enjoy!
