Blogs
Girl vs. Dough
Girl vs. Dough is a blog written by Stephanie. Stephanie came to one of my college classes my sophomore year and told about her experiences as a journalism major, turned newspaper reporter, turned passionate blogger. I think Stephanie is funny and honest about her experiences, has great photography of the food she bakes, and of course, makes great food! I am hoping to spend more time this summer practicing my baking skills and I will probably be trying out many of her recipes!!!
Humans of New York
Humans of New York is one of the things I look forward to most when I open up my Facebook app on my phone! I love the authenticity of the people who answer Brandon, as well as the patience he has to find out the stories of so many different people around New York. It's a good reminder for myself to love people, because we don't always know their whole story.
Refashionista
This blog was started by a girl named Jillian who REvisits, REpurposes, and REvitalizes clothing and I must say, I continue to just gawk at the outrageous items she takes off of thrift store racks and how makes them beautiful. Not only does it take skills to sew and make the right cuts, but I truly believe fashion is all about the vision, and vision for fixing clothing is not something I have. Therefore, I continue to read Jillian's blog and live vicariously through her creative work!
Rowdy Kitten
Tammy Strobel is the writer behind the Rowdy Kittens blog. I love her story and how she got into blogging; she's a photographer, with a camera but often uses her iPhone; she's written a book that I am hoping to order and read very soon; and I love following her on Instagram and seeing her beautiful pictures of nature ... and her cats are funny, too!
Stuff Christians Like
I first heard Jon Acuff speak in the summer of 2013 at Big Stuf Camps. A Christian motivational speaker and writer/blogger, I find Jon to be incredibly inspirational as well as a good source of laughter (follow Jon on Twitter).
Teach me to Braid
My grandma was the one who found this hilarious blog for me (actually, she has helped me track down a lot of the blogs I follow now! - Thanks Grandma!!!). To sum up this humorous from a women and a mom's standpoint, I am just going to quote Em's words off of her blog:
"I'm Em. This blog is my way of inviting you into my journey. You are welcome here. I don't promise to be right or great or revolutionary, but I do promise to be real. I share my home and my heart with my dear husband, my darling daughter, my twin sons and my pup, Murphy. I make pretty good cookies. I wait all year for the state fair. Oh, and I don't know how to braid...yet. My ultimate goal in all of this is to glorify God because what may look like my story is really His."
The Art of Simple
Tsh Oxenreider, founder of this blog, shared that she created this blog first as an outlet on how to simplify her life, as well as transition into a new life overseas. She describes living simply as 1) knowing who you are as a person, 2) a holistic part of your life that helps align all areas in the same direction, 3) harmony, and 4) a process, not a one step arrival, that she continues to work on every day herself!
We are that Family
First of all, just the title of the blog makes me laugh because I totally understand! Maybe not through the same incidents they've had as a family, but while my family great, all six of us are in fact loud and crazy .... but I love them all the same!!! And by being THAT family, I even created my own hashtag on twitter #mylifeasafriesen, which is also how I got the name of this blog. Needless to say, my grandma once again came to the rescue and found me this post What I Want My Little Girls To Know About My Wedding after seeing many wedding pins via Pinterest - needless to say, I was hooked after that!
Hole in the Wall
A blog about hole in the wall restaurants and coffee shops, while giving people a good reality check about thinks that happen in peoples lives as well as good internet reads. I always find great pleasure in reading what Emma has to say!
Just Trev
A "20-something year old college student" Trev is after something beautiful and reminds readers of the raw and authentic real life that most people live in a truthful, yet still humorous, way.
Organizations
Big Stuf
Big Stuf is a camp that I am incredibly passionate about - I went for two years as a student and have now gone the past couple of summers as a small group leader for my church. There is much to learn and take away to bring back home, plus, there aren't a whole lot of camps that let you stay on a beach in hotels for a week with some of your closest friends! I'm also posting my two most recent videos I made for my church about our students week at camp from this last summer.
People
Krista Anderson
Krista is currently a student artist and not only do I love her portfolio of work, I also love hearing about her work, learning more about her story, and having ceramics class with her!
My favorite YouTube Videos
Kid Snippets: Basketball
First of all, basketball is my favorite sport and we all know kids say the absolute funniest things. Then, we watch adults role play as kids. Yeah. It doesn't get much better than that!
Sounds: Ocean Waves
I love to listen to something whenever I am working or doing homework, but I can't write all my papers (or blog posts!) listening to music with words. I have found that this hour long YouTube video of the sounds of the ocean has been incredibly motivational in my work space!
The BU Hunger Games
The Hungers Games is one of my all time favorite trilogies. It only gets better when my friend makes a parody of The Hunger Games to make fun of our small Christian University that we truly do love!
